Net Worth

DMX’s net worth is -$10 million as of April, and don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s minus ten million dollars. The real question is what happened to DMX’s fortune, given that his albums have sold over 86 million copies and his films have generated over $260 million dollars. That’s a question I can’t answer, but based on the expensive lifestyles that rappers lead, plus the fact that he had over 15 girlfriends, that’s where his fortunes were drained. We came up with a negative figure because the rapper has filed for bankruptcy on various occasions, has been sued for failing to pay child support on multiple occasions, and has even been charged with tax evasion. The fact that the DMX net worth number is negative should serve as a reminder to people who waste their money and live large, forgetting that tomorrow is another day. All we can say is that we wish him well in his fraud investigation.

Early Life

Earl Simmons, better known by his stage name DMX, was born in Mount Vernon, New York, on December 18, 1970. His mother, Arnett Simmons, reared him after giving birth to him when she was 19 years old. Simmons’ family moved to Yonkers, New York, when he was five years old. He had a terrible childhood growing up in the Jehovah’s Witness community. His mother and her boyfriends assaulted him. Simmons was expelled from school in fifth grade and spent more than a year at Julia Dyckman Andrus Children’s Home. Years later, as a teenager, he returned to another boys’ home. Simmons started writing hip-hop songs around this time and started playing for his friends. Simmons then adopted the nickname “DMX”, which was inspired by  the Oberheim DMX drum machine, the instrument he was playing at the boy’s house. (Dark Man X would later be regarded as the moniker.)

In the year 1999, DMX married Tashera Simmons. They married for 11 years and had four children together: Xavier, Tacoma, Praise Mary Ella, and Shawn. In 2010, Tashera confirmed their split. DMX was unfaithful to his wife during their marriage, and DNA testing revealed that he fathered at least two children as a result of his adulterous encounters. DMX was forced to pay Monique Wayne $1.5 million after DNA testing confirmed that he fathered her son in 2007.

DMX has a total of 15 children. (On August 16, 2016, his youngest kid, Exodus Simmons, was born to his girlfriend, Desiree Lindstrom.) DMX has spoken openly about his crack addiction.

He started using the substance at the age of 14 after smoking a laced marijuana cigarette. He also claims to be suffering from bipolar disorder. He was discovered lifeless in a Ramada Inn parking lot in Yonkers in 2016. He was resuscitated by first responders and given Narcan before being transported to the hospital. Although no illegal narcotics were discovered on the premises, a witness claimed that DMX took something before falling. It was caused by an asthma episode, according to DMX. DMX experienced a heart attack in April 2021, which was supposedly caused by a narcotics overdose and put him in a coma. He died tragically on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50.

Career

DMX’s rap career took off in the late 1990s. His debut album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998), received critical praise and economic success, selling 251,000 copies in its first week. Over five million copies of the record have been sold globally. He released his best-selling album,…And Then There Was X, on December 21, 1999. (1999). After arriving at number one on the Billboard 200, the album was certified six times platinum. One of the album’s most successful tunes is “Party Up (Up in Here),” one of DMX’s biggest hit singles and his first Top Ten success on the R&B charts. “Where the Hood At?” (2003), “What’s My Name?” (1999), “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” (2003), and “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” (1998) (2003) are some of his other hit singles (2003). DMX has released seven studio albums. On September 11, 2012, his most recent album, Undisputed, was published. The album received mixed reviews from critics and debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200, selling 17,000 copies. Over the course of his career, DMX has sold over 70 million albums worldwide. DMX won the American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist in 2000 and 2001. He’s also been nominated for three Grammy Awards and five MTV Music Video Awards. In addition to his rap career, DMX has appeared in or played supporting roles in eight films. He’s appeared in a number of direct-to-DVD films, including a cameo in Top Five (2014). The autobiography of DMX, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX, was published in 2002.

Believe it or not, during the Nielsen SoundScan period, DMX was the sixth best-selling rapper in America. His first album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, was published in 1998 and went on to sell over 5 million copies, making it the number one album on the Billboard 200 Chart. Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, his second album, was released in 1998 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making him the only rapper in history to have two albums debut at number one in the same year. And Then There Was X, his third album, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in 1999 and has since been certified six times platinum. DMX’s other albums include And Then There Was X (1999), The Great Depression (2001), Grand Champ (2003, Year of the Dog… Again (2006), and Undisputed (2012). His success in music led to opportunities in film, and his films have made over $269 million worldwide to date. Some of his most recent films and television shows are Top Five (2014), King Dog (2013), Black Ink Crew (2017), and others.
